3D prints of skulls and animal footprints

Animal footprints and remains remain powerful witnesses to a vanished world: that of the Chauvet Cave. Using 3D printing technology, IMA Solutions gives them a tangible form that can be transposed into a museum setting.

For the Chauvet Cave exhibition at the Cité des Sciences in Paris, IMA Solutions has recreated a fossilized bear skull, along with human and animal footprints, with a high degree of fidelity, combining scientific rigor and technological innovation.

Data Processing — The scans are sent to us, and the digital models are reworked: artifact correction, reconstruction of damaged areas, mesh optimization to ensure a faithful and robust print, scaling, and integration of scenographic constraints related to assembly with the furniture.

High-definition 3D printing — Using museum-quality printers, we recreate exact replicas of the skulls and prints, in materials suitable for scenography and handling (tactile discovery).

FAITHFUL AND TACTILE REPLICAS

The visual and tactile reproduction preserves texture, traces of time, cracks, and marks.

For the general public, these manipulable replicas, integrated into an interactive scenography, enable mediation without endangering the originals.

The prints are made from sustainable materials, allowing for exhibition, transport, and conservation.
