3d and scientific studies of antinoé’s child mummy
3D scanning of the Heritage for the Museum of Art and Archeology of Guéret (France)
IMA Solutions carried out the 3D scanning by X-ray tomography and short-distance scanning scanner of the child mummy of Antinoé for the Museum of Art and Archeology of Guéret.
This scientific study aims to reveal the invisible by non-invasive and non-destructive techniques and thus, to learn more about this Egyptian mummy (mummification techniques, bioanthropological analysis, state of conservation …)
The virtual exploration of this mummy made it possible to unseal the presence under the bands of amulets, of a scroll of papyrus (which could be a Book of the Dead?) As well as many jewels such as bracelets.
The bioanthropological analysis made it possible to confirm that it was a little girl with a height of 78cm and to give an age of approximately 2 years + or – 8 months thanks to the analysis of the dentition.
The mummification techniques of the mummy of Antinoe at the Gu Interest museum have been compared to those of other infantile mummies from museums with which we work.
